For example, you could start out in a call center and work your way up to customer service supervisor, at which point, you may want to begin looking for a similar supervisory position in an industry you’re passionate about.
Qualifying for Customer Service Positions
When it comes to service, soft skills and computer skills are more important than education. A high school diploma is usually required, but more importantly, the successful applicant will have strong listening and communication skills. They should be adept at problem-solving, documenting information, and talking on the phone. Most service positions require using a computer while on the phone, and the conversations with customers are often recorded.
